Flood Recovery for Southwest Diner, organized by Jonathan Jones

My name is Jonathan Jones. I, along with my partner, Anna, own Southwest Diner. We are raising funds to help cover the costs associated with flood damage Southwest Diner has recently sustained. During the early morning of July 26th, 2022 (and then again two days later), the region took on record rainfall in two separate downpours. The storm sewers were overwhelmed and backed up. The diner took on over 2 feet of sewer water in our basement and significant amounts of water in our dining room . These events have resulted in over $50,000 in damages and lost wages. We lost 4 water heaters and furnace. Tons of dry storage items were lost. Our walk-in cooler was also knocked out, so we lost a significant amount of refrigerated food.

We have been encouraged to launch this campaign to raise these funds by numerous folks reaching out via social media with the desire to help by donating. We are definitely the type of people to try and go it on our own. We have all found ways to pivot and survive over the past two plus years of the pandemic with all it’s stresses and challenges. These floods have really knocked us on our heels.

We will be open again. We just need some help to do it the right way by our staff and to prepare for the all-but-guaranteed future extreme weather events.

These funds will be used to help pay for lost wages for our staff and we replace and repair needed systems and equipment.

Thank you for any help provided. We will see you soon.

Sincerely,

Jonathan Jones
