St. Louis County municipalities would have plenty of money to operate under the Better Together consolidation plan, the pro-merger advocacy group said in a report released on Monday.
Municipal officials have warned for months that Better Together’s plan would bankrupt some and force others into steep tax hikes. A report by three area professors to be released publicly tomorrow is expected to reinforce those claims.
Better Together released a second fiscal analysis, this time projecting municipal finances under the group's consolidation plan.
Better Together’s report, however, predicts that most municipalities would have excess revenues and none would be “left unable to continue providing existing services.”
