Two of St. Louis' finest historic neighborhoods, Compton Heights and Compton Hill--long celebrated for gorgeous turn-of-the-century architecture--will host a house tour from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm on Saturday, September 28 and Sunday September 29, 2019. The public is invited to tour 10 gracious homes with original stained-glass windows and intricate woodwork, winding staircases and elegant features. Just one of the many highlights of the tour is the famed Magic Chef Mansion, a stunning showplace home and crown jewel of the area. The main floor and the unique basement bowling alley are included, plus the lovely biergarten on the grounds offers a selection of cold drinks and food for purchase. Purchase advance tickets for $25 at eventbrite.com before 5:00pm, Monday, September 23 or full-price tickets for $30 during the tour at the Tour Entrance, 3400 Russell Blvd. Children under 4 are free when accompanied by an adult. Tour-goers may walk, drive or use trams available at no charge throughout the tour. Tickets may be used for either day of the tour. The Compton Heights-Compton Hill Tours are offered every 3-4 years; this year tickets are limited due to large crowds in previous years, so purchase tickets early to ensure your spot in this spectacular home tour. Please note, spiked heels are prohibited and some homeowners may require provided shoe booties or removal of shoes. Also, no food, beverages or strollers will be allowed inside the homes.
