A California mother and a Missouri boarding school administrator have been arrested for orchestrating the forcible transport of a minor from California to Missouri in violation of a restraining order that had been issued against the mother. On Tuesday, 35-year-old Shana Gaviola, of Clovis, California, and Julio Sandoval, 41, of Piedmont, Missouri, were arrested on charges of violating a protective order. The charges stem from August of last year when Gaviola's son, referred to in court documents as MV, was forcibly taken from Fresno, California, and transported against his will to a boarding school in Missouri.

St. Louis’ unkillable Loop Trolley just got another round of life support. The East-West Gateway Council of Governments voted on Wednesday to give the deeply unpopular yet surprisingly resilient transportation boondoggle an additional $1.2 million in federal grant monies after the Bi-State Development Agency requested additional funds to keep it going for the next two years. The trolley has already cost taxpayers $51 million in federal and state dollars, but local officials feared it’d all be for nothing if they failed to revive it after a three-year hiatus.

Schnucks opened its first express store in Columbia last week. Known as Schnucks Express, the convenience store will occupy an 11,000-square-foot space adjacent to EatWell, a Natural Food Store by Schnucks, which opened in June 2020, located at 111 South Providence Road in Columbia. It will add to Schnucks’ empire of grocery stores in Missouri.
During the pandemic, Jay's International Foods (3172 South Grand Boulevard, 314-772-2552) decided to do a bit of a face lift. The shop now jokingly says it needs to be called Trader Jay’s after adding a new floor and redoing the front entrance. “People have loved it so much,” says JoJo Prapaisilapa, whose family owns the store.

On three occasions in a little more than two weeks, thieves and would-be thieves have used Hyundais or Kias to smash through the walls of businesses to rob them. Around 5:30 this morning, a silver Hyundai that St. Peters Police suspect was stolen was rammed through the front door of the Academy Sports & Outdoors located in St. Peters near the intersection of Interstate 70 and Mid Rivers Mall Drive FOX 2 News reported that after smashing the Hyundia Elantra through the front door of the sporting goods store, the driver got out of the car and attempted to break into the store's gun case by shooting at it.

Three years later, Johnson still sits in prison. His supporters say more than enough time has passed for Johnson to be freed and receive compensation for the now 28 years stolen from his life.
