If you are one of the millions of Americans who was recently reminded how fun it can be going to the movies by a certain pink-hued, billion-plus-dollar blockbuster or a bomb-obsessed biographical thriller that hit theaters like a you-know-what, then you should continue to reacquaint yourself with that once all-American pastime and head down to the Arkadin Cinema and Bar (5228 Gravois Avenue, 314-221-2173) this Thursday, August 24, for a showing of Stray Dogs, a 2013 film from Malaysian director Tsai Ming-liang.

Erica Park was eager to bring St. Louis a taste of the Korean comfort dishes that helped form the foundation of her love for food. When she tells people this is the reason she and her husband, Sean Lee, opened Cafe Ganadara (6413 Hampton Avenue, 314-802-7044), the assumption is that she's talking about the food she grew up eating in South Korea, where she was born and lived until she was 15.
The food on Washington University’s campus has never been anything to sneer at, and that's been especially true of late. As we wind down this very crazy summer of movies, where the two biggest hits were a gonzo feminist manifesto starring an iconic toy doll and a time-twisting biopic about the guy who invented the atomic bomb (that is, when he wasn't getting butt-bald-nekkid with Florence Pugh), I think it's best we close things out with some good ol' earnest, energetic entertainment. Thankfully, Gran Turismo, which was originally scheduled to come out a couple weeks ago (the Barbenheimer blitz made Sony push it to the end of the month), is here to provide some high-speed melodrama during these dog days of summer.
