New kind of ministry: North city church seeks to treat drug addicts, find them jobs
While many churches look to fill a gap in economic development and social services, a north St. Louis ministry is doing it from the heart of the community it serves. Its ambition is nothing less than transforming the people there who are “dipped in trauma.” It’s a dramatic change for the urban evangelical free church, and it's a test of whether the new model can help to reduce concentrated poverty, which was identified by St. Louis' primary economic development group as holding back the region, including via racial wealth gaps.
Webster Groves consignment shop to remain open under new owner
The owner of The Green Goose Resale & Consignment, a furniture and home decor consignment shop in Webster Groves, has found a buyer for the business.
Founder and owner Robin McNabb, who opened the business in 2011, had said last month that she would close the shop at the end of its lease term Dec. 31 and was looking for someone to buy the business. McNabb said last month that she and her husband, Bill McNabb, would be retiring.

Illinois announces federal emergency disaster declaration for those impacted by tornadoes
The federal government has approved Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker’s request for an emergency disaster declaration to help communities impacted by last week's tornadoes.
The declaration will provide financial support to local communities for storm-related losses or costs incurred in response to the storms, the governor’s office said in a news release Tuesday. In total, six tornadoes were confirmed throughout Illinois.
