Annual St. Louis Soap Box Derby

The International Soap Box Derby is a non-profit youth education and leadership development organization whose mission is to build knowledge and character and to create meaningful experiences through collaboration, fair and honest racing competitions, STEM curriculum, and other community-focused activities. This is a youth racing program for boys and girls ages 7-18 that has run nationally since 1934. The regional St. Louis race has a tradition since at least the 1950's. Today, we race down Macklind Ave. on The Hill and have been for over 15 years.
We'll have empanadas from Mama Pacha and South Indian rose milk along with booths from the St. Louis Science center and other local STEM organizations. The race is on Macklind Avenue, try to park by Shaw school since that's where all the booths will be! The race will be down Macklind Avenue on the west side of the school.
The St. Louis chapter of the Jaycees is the founding chapter of the worldwide JCI organization, a service organization for 18-40 year olds. Come see the cars race and bring young people interested in racing soap box in the future so they can see STEM and car racing in action. If you are a St. Louisan between 18 and 40 years old who is passionate about community service, please check our organization to join today!
