The Association for the Study of the Worldwide African Diaspora (ASWAD) invites the St. Louis community to attend our 12th Biennial Conference - a historic 25th anniversary celebration of African and African Diaspora scholarship, culture, and resistance. ASWAD is the premier scholarly association in the fields of African and African Diaspora Studies, and has hundreds of members around the world. We are excited to host this historic gathering in the city of St. Louis.
This year's theme, "I've Known Rivers: The Ecologies of Black Life and Resistance," explores the interwoven histories and movements that shape Africa and the African Diaspora. Attend groundbreaking research presentations, films, and workshops, as we explore the rich and varied experiences of local and global Black communities.
