Black Eyed Pea Soul Cook-Off & Community Celebration

Blackeyed Pea Soul Cook-Off & Community Celebration is a free, citywide community event bringing food, family fun, health awareness, and helpful resources to St. Philip’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in The Ville.
The Blackeyed Pea Soul Cook-Off invites cooks to prepare and share their best black-eyed pea recipes while competing for prizes and bragging rights. Individuals age 18+ and teams may enter the competition for a $30 entry fee. Contestants are responsible for their own cooking equipment, ingredients, supplies, and utensils. Competition rules will be provided after the entry fee is paid. Entry fees benefit St. Philip’s Evangelical Lutheran Church.
The community celebration is free and open to the public and will feature family fun and helpful community resources.
In recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Blackeyed Pea Soul will also promote breast cancer screening for women and men. Financial assistance may be available for individuals concerned about the cost of healthcare. Siteman will provide a mobile screening opportunity at St. Philip’s on Monday, November 16, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM. To schedule a mobile van appointment, call 314-747-7222, option 2.
