Documentary Premiere:

The Revival of the Dream: HOW DOES IT END? 60 Years Later, commemorates the 60th anniversary of the March on Washington, specifically the iconic “I Have a Dream” speech.

This documentary was produced by our youth apprentices during our Fall 2022 program session and is a look from their perspective on the impact this speech has had on their lives and how it has shaped their view of how they see the world today. It's purpose is to challenges us to think about

• How the speech ended

• If something could have or should have been said differently that would lead us into a different place in 2023 and the future.

• Has Dr. King's dream been realized?

• After 60 years, where are we now?

An Exciting Virtual Conversation with Brenda Travis- Brenda Travis is an author, veteran of the Civil Rights Movement, and an attendee at the historic March on Washington.

Being from McComb, Mississippi, Ms. Travis, will give a first hand account on the impact of the movement and discuss how her imprisonments for protesting a segregated bus station and participation in a peaceful high school walkout in 1961 helped to catalyze public sentiment against segregation. Among her many accomplishments, Travis chronicled her life experiences in the 2018 book, Mississippi’s Exiled Daughter: How My Civil Rights Baptism Under Fire Shaped My Life.
