Join us for our first Farm Tour at Coahoma Orchards! Learn how urban land can transform into edible food forests–envision chokeberries, cherries, plums, and paw paws, mixed with herbs and native flowers–and create space for mindfulness and meditation. Urban farms play a vital role in healing, nourishing, and sustaining our community. We’ll be touring 2 sites (within close walking distance of each other). We encourage you to bring a pair of gloves along, as this will be a working tour. We’ll assist with some light work, like picking up trash between the two growing sites.
This event will take place on the 1-year anniversary of the May 16th tornado that caused significant damage to St Louis, particularly in the communities of North St Louis. We’ll reflect on the challenges faced since the storm and celebrate the determination that continues to drive recovery and growth. Despite ongoing issues—damaged homes and businesses, disrupted livelihoods, and the long road to rebuilding—and a lack of support, the community is no stranger to perseverance.
