See Soulard with a poet's eye! The Soulard Haiku Walk is introduces people to the practice of haiku and helps develop a sense of observation of and appreciation for the Soulard neighborhood. This event is beginner- and family-friendly, and is a critique-free zone, so people can practice writing haiku without fear of judgment.
At the Soulard Haiku Walk, you will be introduced to two haiku concepts, as well as relevant Soulard historical information. The route starts at the Soulard Community Garden, pauses at Pontiac Square Park, and finishes at the Soulard Farmers Market. Each stopping point features some instruction on haiku and the opportunity to explore, observe, and write.
Participants only need to bring their favorite writing tool. (Paper and pen/pencil is preferred, but people are welcome to compose on their phones if that is most useful.) In addition, people should bring their own water and dress accordingly for the weather. This event happens in rain or shine.
