Schlafly Beer's Full Moon Festival will return this winter fully equipped with live music, pig roasting and lots of beer from the St. Louis-based brewery. The event will take over Schlafly Bottleworks (7260 Southwest Avenue, Maplewood) from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. on November 9, Schlafly announced on Tuesday. It will feature with a variety of activities from local restaurants, musicians and beer.

Testimony under oath by a former employee at St. Louis Animal Care and Control is raising concerns about the agency's manner of euthanizing dogs. In a deposition, a former veterinary technician at the agency's Olivette facility stated that she heard complaints about and witnessed a veterinarian "slamming" dogs down on their sides when they were not fully sedated — a way to gain compliance so the fatal drug could be administered to end their lives. The deposition is related to the ongoing lawsuit stemming from a dog that was allegedly wrongfully euthanized — Erin Bulfin's dog, Daisy.

A fatal hit and run occurred early this morning in north county, near Normandie Golf Club. The St. Louis County Police Department said that around 2:50 a.m. officers responded to St. Charles Rock Road and Normandy Avenue to find an adult man lying on the ground after apparently having been struck by a vehicle. The man was transported to the hospital, but succumbed to his injuries.

A Missouri business owner was sentenced to 2 1/2 years in prison on Thursday for his role in a health care scheme that submitted more than $7.5 million of fraudulent claims to Medicare. Jamie McCoy, 42, of Jackson, Missouri, pleaded guilty in November 2020 to three felonies before being sentenced last week. McCoy owned AE Wellness, a company that supplied durable medical equipment, including orthotic braces, to patients.
After the first monkeypox infection hit the City of St. Louis in July, the number of infections has increased in recent weeks. The St. Louis Department of Health reported 52 cases of monkeypox in St. Louis on Thursday –– up from 36 two weeks ago.
