More on the Alleged Cult That Bought Nelly’s Crumbling Mansion

2 years 5 months ago
Neighbors of the Kingdom of God Global Church, an organization many accuse of being cult, say that strange occurrences around church-owned properties in West County have left them confused and at times even frightened. "There's definitely a lot of questions about what exactly is going on with this group," Chesterfield Prosecuting Attorney Tim Engelmeyer tells the RFT. "They could certainly run whatever organization they want to run out of the dozens of commercial areas around Chesterfield.

Review: Arber Cafe Revamp Dazzles With Traditional Albanian Cuisine

2 years 5 months ago
Nearly two decades ago, Limoza Hoxha took her first go at Arber Cafe. Coming off an eight-year stint working in the kitchen at the Clayton Italian mainstay Dominic's Trattoria, it seemed natural that she would incorporate that country's fare into her debut restaurant, even as she wanted to use her new platform to shine a light on her native Albanian cuisine.

The Best Things To Do In St. Louis During The Weekend, June 24 to June 26

2 years 5 months ago
The last weekend of June is here, and it's as busy as the rest of them were. It's the last chance to celebrate Pride Month (although we here at the RFT celebrate Pride year round) and if you've worn out your rainbow flag for the month, there are other commemorations to attend, like the Fiesta in Florissant. Or maybe you just want to chill out, which is totally cool, too — we'd suggest the Summer Vibez concert in that case.

Review: Proper's Rotten Runtz Pre-Rolls Mix Things Up

2 years 5 months ago
When I began dabbling in the dark arts of jazz cabbage in college, my first sensei was a curly haired acquaintance of a mutual friend. He was generally laissez faire but ran a tight ship with his brick weed offerings (brown and more brown were the top two sellers).

2 years 5 months ago
Fans of Serendipity Homemade Ice Cream (4400 Manchester Avenue) have been waiting patiently for their favorite frosty treats since owner Beckie Jacobs shuttered her longtime Webster Groves storefront last December. The closure was temporary, she assured her patrons, prompted by Jacobs' plans to relocate to the Grove after failing to come to a lease agreement with her landlord. Now, she's making good on her promise with news just in time for the mid-summer heat: Serendipity will open in its new home on Manchester Avenue on July 17th.

Judge Ronnie White called the behavior of the St. Louis County Counselors Office "at best lackadaisical and careless, and at worst unscrupulous and dishonest."

ChangeMaker: Chad Eivins's Video Brings New Meaning to Music

2 years 5 months ago
At one time, degradation was the all-but-certain future of the film format. Technology has certainly paved the way for preservation, but what of the film reels and dusty VHS tapes that rarely, if ever, survive the leap to modern screens?

Man Arrested in St. Louis Dog House Headed to Big House

2 years 5 months ago
A 58-year-old California man received a 30-year sentence today in Federal Court in St. Louis for drug trafficking and money laundering. In February, Lester "Unc" Bull pleaded guilty to a slew of charges and admitted to being part of a conspiracy that brought at least 100 kilograms of marijuana into the St. Louis area. Bull claimed to have no involvement with the distribution of harder drugs, but Judge Stephen R. Clark found these claims "not credible," according to a statement issued this afternoon by the U.S. Attorney's Office.

Salve Osteria Brings Italian-Style Drinks and Dining to South St. Louis

2 years 5 months ago
If you look around at the many restaurants that dot South Grand's dining landscape, you'll see a little bit of everything — Thai, Vietnamese, vegan, Latin American, Persian, Indian. However, the one thing diners could not find following the closing of Mangia Italiano in 2020 was Italian inflected fare. That's changed thanks to Natasha Bahrami, Michael Fricker and Matt Wynn with their new restaurant, Salve Osteria (3200 South Grand Boulevard, 314-771-3411).
