Attorney General Eric Schmitt’s lawsuit against a St. Louis County mask mandate has met a loss: A judge denied a temporary restraining order, dealing a blow to Schmitt’s efforts.
This means St. Louis County can continue, for now, with its mask mandate put in place on January 5. Councilwoman Lisa Clancy, D-5th District, sponsored the bill and it passed along party lines. The current mask mandate applies to those older than the age of five, vaccinated or unvaccinated, while indoors; it does not apply to people who are eating, drinking or alone in separate rooms or offices of public places.
“This is a win for public health, and a loss for Coronavirus,” Clancy wrote in a Tweet after the ruling.
St. Louis County Executive Sam Page also celebrated the move on Twitter, saying he was pleased with the ruling and that masks and vaccines are the way out of the pandemic.…
A few years ago, while chatting with a friend that doesn't eat sweets, chef Heidi Hamamura accepted a challenge that would change the way St. Louisans celebrate their birthdays.
"She said to me, 'It would be so baller if you could make me a sushi cake,' so I told her I was going to make her one," Hamamura says. "I used to make sushi pizzas at my dad's restaurant [Sansui] and have made sushi in the shape of Christmas sweaters and menorahs.…

An emergency alert that hit Missouri phones Tuesday listed a vehicle in "Gotham City" that matched the year and model of the Joker-themed vehicles used in the 1989 film Batman — which seemed to be an odd thing to appear on the statewide system that is supposed to alert residents to events like child abductions and imminent danger.
The alert blasting into phones detailed a purple/green 1978 Dodge 3700GT — the same car that Joker's goons used to pursue Batman through the streets of Gotham in the film.…

Completing his years-long metamorphosis to political cockroach, St. Louis police union spokesman Jeff Roorda is joining the Republican Party and launching a campaign for a 2022 state Senate seat in Jefferson County.
Making the announcement in Tuesday in an interview with FM NewsTalk 97.1's Marc Cox, Roorda declared his candidacy while touting his record of "standing up for law and order and a safe community" — even though Roorda's history suggests his principles have less to do with community needs and more with making sure police officers can do whatever they want without consequences.…
Originally slated to begin tomorrow, the United States Postal Service has opened its portal to order four free at-home COVID-19 tests, delivered to your address.
President Joe Biden announced the move last week, saying half a billion tests would be available to order; tests are limited to four per household and will ship seven to twelve days after you place your order. The tests available are rapid antigen at-home tests, not PCR, and show results within 30 minutes, so no lab drop-off is required.…
