A helicopter working on power lines across the Mississippi River hit a line and crashed into a barge below, killing the pilot and a utility lineman.

“This is our last time to see him before he’s gone,” one fan said as the lights dimmed at the amphitheater in Maryland Heights and the red curtains rose.

Officers were called to the crash at about 1 a.m. in the 2500 block of North Grand Avenue, St. Louis police said.
