A couple hundred people gathered Saturday in downtown St. Louis to support the rights of the transgender community and to protest against a sweeping wave of legislation that seeks to curtail those rights in Missouri and around the country.

One of the few prosecutors left handling the city's most violent felonies abruptly resigned Friday, detailing a "completely untenable" workload due to understaffing and a "toxic work environment" in her resignation letter.
Another round of severe weather pushed into parts of the St. Louis region early Saturday evening, bringing potential threats from hail and tornadoes, while putting different warnings and advisories into effect.
After leading Lion's Choice for six years, Michael Kupstas, 66, retired at the end of March. His successor, Fred Burmer, 65, stepped into the CEO role on April 3.
"Gender-affirming health care will be very challenging to access for transgender adults and transgender youth going forward," said Shira Berkowitz, spokesperson for the Missouri advocacy group PROMO.
Unofficial returns the night of the April 4 election had shown Marilyn Roussan leading Lisa Johnson by one vote. On Friday, a recount declared a tie; a runoff may be held to decide the winner.
