Record spending fuels Missouri campaigns to legalize sports gambling, new casino

It’s time to bet the over-under on how much will be spent this year on gambling ballot measures in Missouri. A good mark might be $60 million. Online bookies poured $32 million so far into the Amendment 2 campaign to legalize sports betting, and a casino company grumpy about the deal countered with $14 million to defeat it. Another St. Louis restaurant has closed, after five years in business. Sunny's Cantina, a Mexican-American restaurant at 6655 Manchester Ave. in the Franz Park neighborhood south of Forest Park, closed its doors Sunday. A Walgreens store in south St. Louis is closing next month. The store at 4140 S. Broadway in the Mount Pleasant neighborhood will close Nov. 13. Signs posted at the store said customer prescription records will be available at other Walgreens locations. Ameren Missouri’s Rush Island coal plant to close following years-long litigation
