Three high-ranking city officials have been indicted for federal corruption charges relating to tax abatements after a two-and-a-half-year investigation conducted by the FBI. Former 21st ward representative John Collins-Muhammad, Board of Aldermen President Lewis Reed and Ward 22 Alderman Jeffrey Boyd each face two charges related to bribery. Collins-Muhammad has also been indicted for a third charge of honest services bribery/wire fraud.

LOUIS - On Thursday, June 2, 2022, the St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office issued warrants on suspect Grant Gaumer, 37 years of age, of the 700 block of Bismark Avenue in St. Louis, Missouri 63122, for two counts of Statutory Sodomy in the Second Degree and one count of Sexual Contact with a Student. Gaumer is being held on $500,000, no 10%, cash bond. Please note, charges are merely an accusation and Defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty in a court of law. The probable cause statement reads that an alleged sexual act occurred between the defendant and the victim March 1, 2022, and March 31, 2022. The victim was less than 17 years of age and the defendant was a teacher at Lindbergh High School. Gaumer has been a teacher at Lindbergh High School for 8 years and in addition to teaching, he was the assistant water polo coach and the teacher liaison for the Gay Straight Alliance group at the school. NEW ATHENS — The Major Case Squad of Greater St. Louis has been activated today after a man was killed, another suffered critical injuries, and another injured during a burglary in New Athens on Thursday morning. The St. Clair County Sheriff's Department said the shooting occurred around 11:30 a.m. Thursday at a residence on Golden Mine Road in rural New Athens. The sheriff's office said law enforcement found one man had died and the other two were injured when they arrived. The sheriff's office said a man with critical injuries was airlifted to a St. Louis hospital and another man was rushed to a hospital. The second man's injuries were apparently not life-threatening. It appears when the men arrived at the home, they realized someone was trying to burglarize the home. When they tried to stop the burglary, someone shot them.
