Since core services are the most stubborn component of inflation, it's worth keeping an eye on. Here's the 3-month rolling average: After nine quarters at about 5%, core services inflation finally fell to 3.5% in Q2 but then stayed there in Q3. Stay tuned for Q4.

Who has the best forecast of Q3 GDP?

The Atlanta Fed's GDPNow model is currently predicting that Q3 GDP will come in at 5.4% growth (!). The New York Fed is at 2.5%. The "blue chip consensus" has converged on 3.5%. On Thursday morning we'll get the official number from the BEA and declare a winner.
