It may not seem like a natural move for an artist to transition to nonprofit leadership, but north St. Louis County native Quinton Ward believes that his background in art and design gives him the creativity needed to lead successful nonprofit initiatives, while his day-to-day work running a nonprofit in turn influences his art.

On Wednesday night, a medical marijuana dispensary took another step toward opening in Des Peres after officials ruled in its favor in a dispute over a proposed location.
The Root 66 medical marijuana dispensary, which already has two locations in the city of St. Louis and one in St. Peters, wants to open at 12095 Manchester Road, currently occupied by a Paperdolls Boutique location. The Planned Parenthood location in the Central West End will remain open in the event abortion becomes illegal in Missouri, officials said, as it would cease performing medical abortions but would continue offering other services.
Planned Parenthood runs seven other brick-and-mortar locations in Missouri that offer reproductive health care and counseling, but the Central West End clinic, 4251 Forest Park Ave., is the only abortion-providing clinic left in the state.
