One of the things about cruising down a river is that you never know exactly where you are. I shot this picture on Sunday morning at sunrise, and I think it's the Église Saint-Sauveur du Petit-Andely. I may find out for sure on our way back. But for now that's my best guess.

The Problem With The Otherwise Very Good And Very Important Eleventh Circuit Decision On The Florida Social Media Law

3 years 1 month ago
There are many good things to say about the Eleventh Circuit’s decision on the Florida SB 7072 social media law, including that it’s a very well-reasoned, coherent, logical, sustainable, precedent-consistent, and precedent-supporting First Amendment analysis explaining why platforms moderating user-generated speech still implicates their own protected rights. And not a moment too soon, while we […]

Collinsville Celebrates Its Sesquicentennial Birthday

3 years 1 month ago
COLLINSVILLE – Collinsville is turning 150 years old, and rather than celebrate for one day we are going to keep the party going throughout the year. The party will start on Sunday, May 29, during the Memorial Day Fireworks Celebration and will continue with events planned throughout the year. The Memorial Day festivities start at 2 p.m. and will feature live music, food, fun, children’s activities, and more for the family. During the day’s activities, Collinsville Mayor John Miller will be reading a proclamation recognizing the City’s Sesquicentennial. No birthday party is complete without birthday cake, and this will be no different with Kruta Bakery providing cupcakes. There will also be a giant birthday card for all to sign that will be displayed at future events. Kids will have the opportunity to help decorate life-size commemorative birthday candles during the event. Candles have already been placed around town at various local landmarks, parks, and other

Governor Pritzker Signs Legislation Protecting Illinoisans With Disabilities In Housing, State Government

3 years 1 month ago
CHICAGO - Governor JB Pritzker signed HB2775 and SB180 into law today, expanding protections for Illinoisans with disabilities in state government and housing. HB2775 amends the Illinois Human Rights Act to ban discrimination in housing selection based on source of income, including non-employment income such as Section 8 vouchers or disability payments. SB180 seeks to expand accommodations for people with disabilities seeking to attend legislative meetings, hearings, and other government events at the Illinois Capitol Complex through formation of an Accessibility Task Force. “Our disabled residents must have access to safe and affordable housing and it is past time that the law reflects our state’s values of accessibility and inclusion,” said Governor JB Pritzker. “That’s why we are banning source of income discrimination in housing selection and assembling the Accessibility Task Force. Our disabled communities deserve a seat at the table—and this
