Primed and Ready For Fall: Runner Aidan Loeffelman Is Midwest Members Credit Union Male Athlete of Month For Oilers
WOOD RIVER - Aidan Loeffelman is primed and ready for the fall cross country season for the East Alton-Wood River High School Oilers. July 5-10, Aidan participated in the prestigious Bowerman Track Club in Oregon summer camp. He was chosen and awarded a full scholarship to attend. Dustene Shoemaker, Aidan’s mother, said: “We are so proud of him and his determination. We also extend thanks to the Oilers’ head cross country and track coach Russ Colona. He has been such a supporter and helped Aidan in so many ways.” To top the summer off, Aidan completed his first Olympic Triathlon, which includes a 1.5-mile open water swim, a 40K bike, and a 10K run. He finished fourth in his age division 19 and under in the triathlon at Springfield, IL., this past weekend. Aidan said the triathlon was a different type of race. His time was 3 hours, 17 minutes, and 53 seconds. "I was tired after it was over but it was more about mentally staying focused through the whole thing.
Johna Murphy Crowned Miss Madison County Fair Pageant Queen, Skylar Touchette Is Runner-Up
EDWARDSVILLE - Johna Murphy was crowned 2022 Miss Madison County Fair on Saturday in Highland and Skylar Touchette was the runner-up. The Junior Miss winner was Remi Sapp and Junior Miss First Runner-Up was Alieyah Fazio. Miss Heart of Heirtlieb was Skylar Touchette. Anne Marie Connelly, a co-director and spokesperson for the Madison County Fair Pageant said: "This was another great pageant this year. There are always surprises every year. We learn a little more every year. This one was pretty smooth for our wonderful pageant committee. I am so impressed with our contestants. I would love to thank the executive fair board and their dedication. "They put on a wonderful fair and thank you to the parents and family and friends without them wouldn’t have it as well. I would like young girls to know the Madison County Fair beauty pageant is here and to come out and see what it is all about. We had a great year and are looking forward to the one next year."
