MADISON – The Illinois Department of Transportation, the Illinois State Police, and World Wide Technology Raceway announce several traffic and travel impacts associated with the Enjoy Illinois 300 NASCAR Cup Series Race the weekend of June 3rd – June 5th. For those planning to attend any of the events at World Wide Technology Raceway next weekend, there will be several traffic and parking changes implemented to enhance your travels to and from the track. Directions on the best route for each parking location have been included with each parking pass. This information can also be found on the track’s website: https://wwtraceway.com/ and will be shared with multiple mapping applications to help guide motorists to the proper access point at the Raceway. FreightWeekSTL: New Study Reveals Illinois Route 3 Near St. Louis Is Positioned as a Nationally Significant Heavy Industrial Corridor

A 60-mile stretch of Illinois (IL) Route 3 generates $16 billion in annual business revenue and supports 221,881 direct and indirect jobs, according to a new economic impact study commissioned by the St. Louis Regional Freightway. The Route 3 corridor in southwestern Illinois is parallel to St. Louis, Missouri along the Mississippi River and Interstate 255, and goes from Waterloo, Illinois, in the south to Godfrey Illinois, to the north. It is gaining recognition as a premiere heavy industry and warehousing corridor with distinct advantages over other areas around the country, such as the percentage of the direct jobs in manufacturing, transportation and warehousing that greatly eclipse the regional and national averages for jobs in those sectors.

Alley Recycling Returns to St. Louis City May 31

The City of St. Louis Streets Department announced this week that alley recycling pickup will return on the last day of the month. The city says the change is possible because it invested in more truck mechanics and plans to use Refuse Division resources more effectively. “The Refuse Division services 80,000 households across the city, and we’ve been working tirelessly to resume alleyway recycling collection for St. Louisans,” said Streets Department Director Betherny Williams in a statement.

ST. LOUIS - Make-A-Wish Missouri & Kansas is organizing a Guinness World Record attempt at the longest marathon roller hockey game – to grant local wishes! Currently, the World record sits at 36 hours and 56 seconds and is held by the Scorpions Inline Hockey Club from Namibia. The Scorpions have held this record since September 11, 2016. Over Memorial Day weekend, Make-A-Wish hopes to not only break the world record but also grant local wishes to children with critical illnesses. “Our goal is to raise $100,000 with this event which will help grant 10 wishes to local children facing overwhelming odds,” said event organizer Mark Turnipseed.
