State Funding, Collaboration To Expand Health Care Access In Underserved Areas

Nearly $66 million in funding is on its way to improve access to health care for people across many communities in central and northern Illinois living at lower income levels. The Illinois Department of Health and Family Services (HFS) is providing the funding over the next five years to Peoria-based OSF HealthCare and several Federally Qualified Health Centers (HQHCs) that have formed the Medicaid Innovation Collaborative (MIC), which will address social factors that impact health such as financial strain, housing, and food insecurity among others. The MIC includes OSF HealthCare , OSF Medical Group, and Heartland Health Services (Peoria, IL), Chestnut Health Systems, Inc . (Bloomington, IL), Eagle View Community Health System, Inc . YWCA Announces Josephine Marley Beckwith Future Leaders Scholarship Recipients And Renewals

ALTON - YWCA is pleased to announce the 2022 Josephine Marley Beckwith Future Leader (JMBFL) Scholars: Guadalupe Calixto, Bethalto, and Renee Raglin, Alton. Guadalupe currently attends Civic Memorial High School and intends to major in biochemistry. Renee Raglin is from Alton High will be majoring in sports medicine. In addition, Samantha Evanoff, Troy, Taryn Geiger, Bethalto, Ashlyn Green, Alton, and Tristan Johnson, Hardin were approved for renewal scholarships. St. Louis comes out looking good in a new report from the Brookings Institution, which calls attention to “rising stars” that have done a solid job in recent years of adding jobs in fast-growing technology sectors. Employment data from 2020 suggest St. Louis, Kansas City and a handful of other metros are poised for further progress, according to Brookings researchers Mark Muro and Yang You.
