Duckworth Meets with Illinois State Police Director Kelly to Discuss Violence Prevention
WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Tammy Duckworth (D-IL) today met with Illinois State Police Director Brendan Kelly to discuss the Illinois State Police’s work and how federal efforts can help support the agency. Duckworth and Kelly discussed the importance of the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) funding, the leading source of federal justice funding to state and local jurisdictions. During Black History Month, St. Louis Public Radio is participating in the “Lift Every Voice” initiative, which highlights the lives and accomplishments of more than 50 Black Americans throughout history. The project was created by a familiar voice in St. Louis: Geri Mitchell, who hosted Morning Edition on STLPR from 2013 to 2017. Now the midday host at WAMU in Washington D.C., Mitchell joined St. Louis on the Air to discuss the project, and its goal to call attention to “the countless contributions of African Americans, many of whom were and are still obscured in history.”

Bakery and cafe to close in Metro East, will relocate
A bakery and cafe in downtown Edwardsville will close its doors at the end of February.
222 Artisan Bakery and Café announced on social media it will close at the end of February at 222 N. Main St. in Edwardsville. The property is owned by John and Ellen Celuch, according to Madison County property records.
