Marley Ogden Is Exceptional Three-Point Shooter - Is A Tom Lane State Farm Athlete Of The Month For CM

2 years 2 months ago
BETHALTO - Civic Memorial sophomore guard Marley Ogden has stepped up big time for the Eagles this season. After not having much varsity experience, she's now become a key component for CM. Listed as the shortest player on the roster at 5-foot, she makes up for it with her shooting ability, arguably the best on the team this season. She's the team's second leading scorer with 244 points, just behind senior Avery Combes who's racked up 246 points. For her hard work, Marley is a Tom Lane State Farm Athlete of the Month for Civic Memorial. This season Marley's put in 63 3-pointers, the most on her team by a long shot and even up there with the most in the entire St. Louis region. She's one of six Eagles to have played in all 28 games this season, sometimes getting the start, but other times coming in off the bench. Marley is the little sister to Adam Ogden, the leading scorer for the CM boys basketball team. Adam's 46 points shy of 1,000 career points and he's on pace to get there

Attorney General Raoul Leads Coalition Supporting Fair Wages For Federal Contract Workers

2 years 2 months ago
CHICAGO - Attorney General Kwame Raoul led a coalition of 22 attorneys general in filing an amicus brief supporting the federal government’s actions to increase the minimum wage to $15 per hour for certain federal contractors. The policy was first enacted by presidential executive order in April 2021, and then implemented by the U.S. Department of Labor in November 2021 in the final rule, “Increasing the Minimum Wage for Federal Contract Workers.” Raoul and the coalition submitted the amicus brief in Texas v. Biden, a case involving a challenge to the executive order and final rule raising the minimum wage for federal contractors. Raoul and the states argue that both the president and the Department of Labor acted well within their authority when implementing the policies to ensure federal contract workers are paid fair living wages. In addition, Raoul and the attorneys general argue that the minimum wage increase is fully supported by empirical evidence and is

Duckworth Reaction To Boeing Withdrawing Safety Standard Waiver Request For MAX 7 Aircraft With Known Safety Defect

2 years 2 months ago
WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Senator and pilot Tammy Duckworth (D-IL)—a member of the U.S. Senate Committee on Commerce, Science and Transportation (CST) and Chair of the CST Subcommittee on Aviation Safety, Operations and Innovation—issued the following statement after Boeing confirmed its intent to withdraw its reckless petition requesting an exemption from safety certification standards to prematurely allow its 737 MAX 7 aircraft to enter commercial use before fixing a known safety flaw that could have catastrophic consequences on passenger safety. Boeing’s withdrawal comes after Duckworth personally urged the company’s CEO last week to withdraw its petition and prioritize passenger safety over profits. “While Boeing never should have sought this exemption to put another new aircraft with a known safety defect into service in the first place, I’m both relieved and appreciative that they are putting the flying public’s safety first by withdrawing

ALTON - The next American Red Cross blood drive at Alton Memorial Hospital will be from 11:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 20, in the AMH café meeting rooms. Everyone who registers for this blood drive will receive a $20 Amazon gift card via email. The Red Cross is experiencing a severe blood shortage. Low donor turnout and blood drive cancellations have led to the blood supply reaching extremely low levels. The Red Cross needs donors of all blood types — particularly type O blood, the blood group hospitals need most — to give blood to help meet daily hospital demands. Each blood donation can be divided into components, including red blood cells, plasma and platelets, and each donation has the potential to save three lives. Red blood cells are given to bleeding patients and used during surgeries. They are used by patients
