Illinois State Police Congratulates New Troopers Of Cadet Classes 144 And 145

SPRINGFIELD – The Illinois State Police (ISP) welcomed 20 new troopers today from Cadet Class 144 and Cadet Class 145 at a graduation ceremony at the Illinois State Fairgrounds in Springfield. The new troopers will report to six different Troops throughout the state on Monday, December 18, 2023. Cadet Class 144 and 145 mark the 16 th and 17 th cadet class graduations under Governor JB Pritzker and ISP Director Brendan F. Kelly. CAHOKIA HEIGHTS - State Representative Kevin Schmidt has responded to the recent report detailing the public health crisis faced by residents in Cahokia Heights. The investigative report, published on November 13, 2023, sheds light on the dire living conditions experienced by the community, including persistent exposure to sewage and its severe health implications. The report reveals that residents in Cahokia Heights have been exposed to sewage for decades, leading to serious health concerns, including bacterial infections, parasites, viruses, and respiratory issues. Sadly, the state has only released $2.4 million of the promised $15.35 million that the city desperately needs properly to address these critical public health threats that are leaving residents in desperate conditions. A new study offers the first-ever "snapshot" of the plastic pollution in the Mississippi River — and it's pretty trashy. The Mississippi River Plastic Pollution Initiative tracked debris near St. Louis and nine other cities along the Mississippi, from St. Paul, Minnesota to Greenville, Mississippi. Across three different periods from March 2021 to July 2022, volunteers logged a total of 174,868 items on their  Debris Tracker apps.

CHICAGO – Bethalto CUSD #8 Superintendent Jill Griffin and Bunker Hill CUSD #8 Superintendent Todd Dugan were inducted into the Educational League of Illinois (ELI) during the organization’s 143 rd annual meeting. Organized and founded on December 29, 1880, ELI is the oldest order of educational leaders in the state of Illinois. ELI is an organization comprised of educational leaders who go above and beyond to promote learning, share collective expertise, and advance educational interests in Illinois. Dugan and Griffin were inducted into the professional organization during the league’s annual meeting at the Annual Joint Conference of the Illinois Association of School Administrators, Illinois Association of School Boards, and Illinois Association of School Business Officials in Chicago.
