A minivan crashed into a fireworks stand in Festus, injuring five people and causing $100,000 in inventory damage.

Families said they were happy to be at the event after flooding ended Riverfest early last year. 

A hearing has been scheduled for next week.

"This is yet another senseless shooting with an innocent life lost," the Alton Police Department said.

The roadway has since reopened, but police have not shared details regarding the crash.

Chesterfield residents near the affected area may have experienced discolored or cloudy water and low water pressure due to a water main break, with roads closed for several hours while crews make emergency repairs.

Missouri American Water said the water main break may cause cloudy water, low water pressure or no water for some customers in the area.

Recovery efforts are expected to continue through the weekend.
