GODFREY - On Sept. 7-8, 2024, more than 1,000 cyclists will take part in the 40th Annual Bike MS: Gateway Getaway, an event dedicated to raising awareness and funds to find a cure for multiple sclerosis. Hosted by the National Multiple Sclerosis Society and set against the beautiful backdrop of Lewis and Clark Community College — where it has been held for the past 10 years—this year’s ride celebrates four decades of impactful efforts against MS. This year’s goal is to raise $1.3 million to support groundbreaking research and provide vital assistance to the over 9,300 individuals living with MS in our area and the 1 million individuals impacted nationally. Cyclists will ride up 200 miles over two days, Sept. 7-8. ALTON - Alton Little Theater is promoting a new opportunity for thespians: improv classes. Taught by Alex Trepka of 1117 Studio, the improv classes will take place in downtown Alton. Trepka hopes to introduce classes for ages 11–17 and ages 18 and up. He believes that improv is a useful skill and fun experience for people of all backgrounds. “I do think improv is something that younger kids or people of all ages, 11 to 99, can use the skills,” Trepka said. “I’m in the process right now of securing a space so that we can get some classes going.” Alton Little Theater is helping Trepka establish 1117 Studio and start the classes.
