Attorney General Raoul Sues Alternative Retail Electric Supplier For Deceptive And Unfair Marketing Practices

CHICAGO - Attorney General Kwame Raoul filed a lawsuit against Residents Energy LLC (Residents), an alternative retail electric supplier (ARES), alleging the company’s telemarketers and in-person sales agents used deceptive and unfair tactics to switch customers from their public utility company to more expensive contracts with Residents. Raoul’s lawsuit , filed in Cook County Circuit Court, alleges that Residents’ sales representatives used a variety of deceptive tactics to lure customers into switching to Residents. During sales solicitations, agents allegedly made false promises of low rates and savings, when in fact Raoul alleges Residents’ customers almost always paid higher rates than they would have if they had remained with their original public utility company. “Residents used false promises to lure consumers away from their public utility companies. Union hosts layoff informational meetings for hundreds of Granite City U.S. Steel workers

Hundreds of steel and iron workers in the Metro East are trying to figure out what's next. Workers were temporarily let go from U.S. Steel Granite City Works and will likely be off the job for several months. Two weeks ago, U.S. Steel announced it was temporarily idling furnace B at the Granite City steel plant. City Backs Off Late-Night Dispersal of St. Louis City Hall Encampment

St. Louis city officials called off the planned disbandment of a camp of unhoused people in front of City Hall in the early hours of Tuesday morning. Police had congregated at a park around City Hall late Monday night to evict the campโ€™s holdouts at 10 p.m., but protestors and some residents of the camp refused to leave.ย
