The first hard surface soccer field is under construction at DeSoto Park just north of downtown St. Louis.

One person was killed and other people were injured in a shooting Wednesday evening in East St. Louis.

The IHSA playoffs are on and these teams are facing each other off the field to "Tackle Hunger."

Week 11 saw Highland and Mascoutah high schools go head-to-head to see which team could collect the most non-perishable food for Operation Food Search.

While schools have helped collect 40,000 pounds of food, there are still many people in need.

"We're seeing a need now more than ever. Food insecurity spiked during the pandemic and the challenges continue," Kristen Wild said.

Twenty-two schools participated in the donation drive, with Lutheran St. Charles High School generating the most donations – 6,720 pounds.

Tackle Hunger wrapped up with an additional donation to Operation Food Search.

All football season long, St. Louis area high schools stepped up to help those in need.
