Sunday’s weather served as one more gift for dads to be grateful for this Father’s Day as parks around town serve as the backdrop this holiday, families spent time thanking dad in a variety of ways.

EDWARDSVILLE - 20 students from SIUE Suzuki Program's Tour Group just completed a nine-day tour of the Czech Republic and Poland, performing a series of concerts along the way. Under the direction of Allison Woerner, they performed a total of three concerts, two of which were done in cooperation with local Suzuki groups from Prague and Krakow. Woerner said in a Facebook post that this tour was five years in the making due to the pandemic. “This tour was special,” she said. “Five years it took to get this to happen because of Covid. We did it. They did it. Only one of these students had ever toured before - it was a totally new and untested crew. They trusted, grew, bonded, played, laughed, shopped, and did it all with kindness and silliness.” The group also visited historic sites such as the Prague Castle District, the Wieliczka Salt Mine, and Auschwitz. A 21-year-old man was killed and two adults injured following a head-on collision Saturday on Highway 47 in Lincoln County.

Authorities say the suspect was wounded during a confrontation with police.

A De Soto man died Saturday morning in a motorcycle crash roughly 10 miles north of Hillsboro on Old Missouri Highway 21, highway patrol officials said.

MEDORA - Matt Hasquin puts in a lot of hours with a lot of kids. He has a long list of titles as a teacher, coach and mentor, but his most rewarding job is being a father. Matt is a social studies teacher at Southwestern High School, where he also coaches football, boy’s track and scholastic bowl. As a Medora native, he knew he wanted to raise his kids in the same community-oriented area that he grew up in. “This place has done so much for me that I wanted to be able to give back to it, and I wanted them to benefit from it,” Matt said. “I always wanted to come back to the area. In the hours after 10 young people were shot downtown, police are focusing their investigation on the fifth floor of a Washington Avenue building, which despite being an office space, had a group of youths partying in it at 1 a.m. on a Sunday. St. Louis Metropolitan Police Chief Robert Tracy said at a press conference today 17-year-old Makao Moore was killed and nine others aged 15 to 19 were injured by gunfire this morning around 1 a.m. in the building near the intersection of North 14th Street and Washington Avenue.
