Heavy Snow Is Coming to St. Louis Again This Week
Itโs January in the Midwest so itโs not entirely unexpected that there is snow in the forecast this week. Just how much snow weโre going to get, though, is a matter that always seems to be up for debate with local meteorologists. As of right now (which is midday on Monday), the National Weather Service in St. Louis is saying that the St. Louis area should expect between 3 to 6 inches of snow dropping from late Tuesday into early Wednesday.
Incarceration rates for the young continue to drop hard and fast
Here's an incarceration chart from my buddy Rick Nevin: It looks like incarceration rates went down in both 2020 and 2021, and indeed they did. Between 2019 and 2021 the prison incarceration rate for ages 18-19 declined from 1.07% to 0.84% to 0.55%. For the entire age cohort of 18-24 year-olds, prison incarceration rates went ...continue reading "Incarceration rates for the young continue to drop hard and fast"

The cost of attendance is $25 per person, which includes a catered dinner, hors d'oeuvres, spirits (attendees must be 21 or over), and desserts. MCT Service Adjustments Take Effect Feb. 5
PONTOON BEACH - On Sunday, February 5, Madison County Transit (MCT) is implementing its winter service change. Thanks to aggressive recruitment efforts by Agency for Community Transit (ACT), and changes to the composition of driver rosters, MCT was able to forego the reductions that were previously proposed due to the labor shortage, and even extend select routes with additional evening trips. “We’re incredibly grateful that we have the energetic and dedicated workforce to keep our buses on the road and to continue providing critical transportation services each day,” said MCT Managing Director SJ Morrison. “The service cuts that were initially proposed due to the driver shortage would have been detrimental to thousands of Madison County residents.” A summary of the changes, effective Sunday, February 5, 2023, is listed below. For detailed schedule information visit www.mct.org , call 618-797-INFO (4636), or e-mail info@mct.org . ROUTE CHANGES:

How much snow is in the St. Louis forecast?
ST. LOUIS, Mo. -- The big story this week is the impending winter storm. It has all the classic earmarks of a solid snowmaker. The only aspect of this system that is marginal will be the temperatures, which will hover close to freezing throughout the event. This is important for figuring out how the snow [...]
It's Official, St. Louis Is a Better City Than New York
Itโs true that New York, New York, is a hell of a town โ and, sure, if you can make it there, you can make it anywhere. But when it comes to great American cities, St. Louis has New York City licked.

WASHINGTON โ A Texas judge could decide as soon as next month whether to force the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to pull its two-decade-old approval of the abortion pill, which accounts for more than half of pregnancy terminations in the United States. A nationwide injunction in the case, as requested by anti-abortion groups, would […]

Trump Lawyers Sanctioned Again For Stupid Lawsuit Claiming Clinton Rigged The Election She Lost
Once again, the federal court that had the misfortune of dealing with Donald Trump’s pile of conspiracy theory he and his lawyers generously called a “lawsuit” is handing out sanctions to Trump’s legal team. The lawsuit — which claimed Hillary Clinton (and a couple dozen others) conspired to rig the election Trump actually won — […]

Bagel Union Is Worth 90 Minutes in Line in the Cold
St. Louis has been starved for good bagels. That was immediately apparent upon pulling up to the soft opening of Bagel Union (8705 Big Bend Boulevard, Webster Groves), the new effort from Ted Wilson and Sean Netzer, owners of the beloved Union Loafers Cafe and Bread Bakery. Arriving just 15 minutes after the soft opening's start time of 8 a.m., I found the line to get into the small corner shop stretched down the block and around the corner.
