U.S. Rep. Cori Bush, D-St. Louis, on Tuesday defeated primary challenger Steve Roberts, virtually ensuring her reelection this November in the heavily Democratic 1st Congressional District. Bush got 69% of the vote. Roberts had 26%. Roberts, a moderate challenger, had appealed to voters by claiming that Bush's controversial votes — against the federal infrastructure bill and defense spending, for example — had cost the district. Update: According to final, unofficial results, Sam Page ended the night with 63.47 percent of the vote while Jane Dueker only received  36.53 percent of the vote. In the Republican race for county executive, Katherine Pinner pulled out a surprise victory with 56.1 percent of the vote to Shamed Dogan's 43.9 percent. Original story follows....

Despite strong storms with considerable flash flooding to the east in Clay County, Illinois, there was not a tornado threat.

Trish Gunby (R-Ballwin) has defeated Ray Reed in the Democratic primary for the Second Congressional District, according to preliminary, unofficial results from the St. Louis County Board of Elections.

Days had 66% of the votes with most of the county precincts reporting. Her challenger, Jennings Councilman Terry Wilson, had 34%.

Voters had a chance to nominate Sam Page or Jane Dueker as the Democrat nominee for St. Louis County Executive.
