Missouri Man Gets Prison Time for $7.5M Health Care Fraud

A Missouri business owner was sentenced to 2  1/2 years  in prison on Thursday for his role in a health care scheme that submitted more than $7.5 million of fraudulent claims to Medicare. Jamie McCoy, 42, of Jackson, Missouri, pleaded guilty in November 2020 to three felonies before being sentenced last week. McCoy owned AE Wellness, a company that supplied durable medical equipment, including orthotic braces, to patients.

Saint Louis Public Schools picks interim superintendent, launches national search for permanent job

The Saint Louis Public Schools system chose an interim superintendent to take over the job after current Superintendent Kelvin Adams retires at the end of the year. In a press release Monday, SLPS announced Nicole Williams will take over the position Jan. 1, 2023, following Adams' retirement. Adams announced in August that he would be retiring at the end of the year. He has been the district's superintendent for 14 years. Lambert airport website restored after apparent cyberattack, flights not affected

St. Louis Lambert International Airport had its website targeted as part of a larger apparent cyberattack Monday, but officials said the airport was still functioning normally during the outage. Roger Lotz, a spokesman for Lambert airport, said the website went down early Monday but was restored at around 3 p.m. He said the outage did not affect any of the operations at the airport. Rapid Rise in Monkeypox Cases in St. Louis

After the first monkeypox infection hit the City of St. Louis in July, the number of infections has increased in recent weeks. The St. Louis Department of Health reported 52 cases of monkeypox in St. Louis on Thursday –– up from 36 two weeks ago. Cases in Missouri have stayed lower than most states with 128 total cases, the 29th highest in the country.
