2022 Virtual Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Freedom Celebration: Joy as an Act of Resistance

Join us for the second virtual edition of the annual Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Freedom Celebration. This year’s presentation is inspired by photographs of Dr. King by Pulitzer Prize–winning photographer Moneta Sleet Jr. that embody the concept of joy as an act of resistance. Local Black performing artists, Robert Crenshaw, Alicia Revé, and Freeman Word, will respond to the photographs from the Museum’s collection through dance, music, and spoken word.

This on-demand virtual program will become available on Monday, January 17, 2022, and can be viewed anytime through the end of 2022. Registration is not required.
