Hours of music, dancing and laughter ringing out in South City Saturday was a testament to the St. Louis icon Brian McKenna, who died in a March pedestrian crash.

More than two weeks after a deadly tornado swept across parts of St. Louis city and County, relief and recovery efforts continue.

More than 2,400 people filled Macklind Avenue on Saturday for “Brian McKenna Day,” a community event honoring the life and impact of former sportscaster Brian McKenna.

County officials opened the Disaster Loan Outreach Center in Florissant to help residents recover from damaging storms, tornadoes, and wildfires.

The May 16 tornado devastated the community the district calls home, with 12 schools damaged and close to 2,000 SLPS families impacted.
