Midtown Building's Demolition Faces Holdup Over Hotel Plans

Whether developers seeking to tear down a mid-century modern building in Midtown St. Louis to build two hotels can get demolition permission could come down to one question: Whether they're serious about building the hotels. A development company called 2601 Market Hotel Investors LLC has applied for a permit to tear down the five-story building at Jefferson and Market streets that once housed A.G. Edwards. The concrete structure was designed in 1968 by the St. Louis firm Raymond Maritz & Sons, and later saw a series of additions as A.G. Edwards ultimately became part of Wells Fargo.

Jerseyville Police Make Quick Arrests: Man Charged With Attempted Murder, Another Obstructing Justice

JERSEYVILLE - Jerseyville Police have a suspect in custody who has been charged with attempted murder after a shooting at a residence located in the 700 block of North Liberty Street. The suspect is Donald R. Jones, 29, who was arrested on the evening of December 27, 2022. Jones is currently incarcerated at the Jersey County Jail. Tyler E. Howland, 19, was also arrested on the evening of December 27, 2022. Howland is currently incarcerated at the Jersey County Jail and charged with felony obstructing justice. The case continues to be an ongoing investigation and additional charges are pending on both subjects. At 8:15 p.m. on December 25, 2022, Jerseyville Police officers responded to a report of a shooting at a residence located in the 700 block of North Liberty Street. Upon arrival, officers located a victim who had been shot one time while inside his residence. Jerseyville Police Chief Brad Blackorby said the victim was transported from the scene by EMS. Granite City High School Announces High Honor/Honor Roll

GRANITE CITY – Granite City High School Principal Daren DePew announced that 539 students earned Honor Roll accolades for the first semester of the 2022-23 school year. Students who obtained a grade point average of 5.0 or higher during the first semester earned high honors, while students with a 4.2-4.999 GPA with no D earned was named to the honor roll.
